Process Openness

Start, stop, change

The way things are now is not always how they should be. Too many resources and too much energy are being used. Or a planned change is still pending. A process should be developed strategically and monitored subsequently. The following questions can be answered through moderation, mediation or public participation for a team, organisation or municipality.

  • How can differences be dealt with?
  • What to do so that diversity is understood and lived as an opportunity?
  • What form of cooperation and co-determination is conducive?
  • How can sustainable results be achieved that everyone can support?

I work on these issues
primarily with organisations, teams and groups in Berlin-Brandenburg and on demand throughout the entire country (in German and English). Do you have any question, need more information or would you like to arrange a free preliminary meeting? Feel free to write me at info@klärungsart.de

Mediation

If tensions or controversies need to be clarified and all parties involved are willing to address their issues in order to achieve lasting solutions- then mediation is the ideal method!

  • problems are not discussed openly and constructively?
  • there is a lack of clarity or resentment about responsibilities or decisions?
  • there are formed alliances or fronts that make joint cooperation difficult?

Mediations begin with a free preliminary dialogue and the order clarification. The mediation process takes about 2-6 sessions (1.5 – 3 hours each) and includes 5 phases: Setting the framework, describing the issues, clarifying the conflict, finding a solution, final agreement.

As a mediator, I provide a safe environment so that everyone can bring their issues on the agenda. Participants can rely on my neutral, appreciative and supportive attitude at all times. During the mediation you learn more about yourself and the other party(ies) and expand your communication and conflict skills.

Moderation

Good moderation enables people to look at an issue in depth, to reflect on it and/or to plan it. External moderation provides neutrality, impartiality and renewed energy.

  • a change in content or structure should be discussed and implemented?
  • you need a good discussion framework for a difficult topic?
  • an evaluation or retreat is planned and you would like to have external support?

In a preliminary dialogue, the basic conditions for the moderation are set. I moderate meetings, vision workshops, supervision, organisation development, big groups, online and much more.

In a moderation, I focus on the central theme, I use a variety of methods, I enable SMART results and I make sure that everyone is heard. Through the moderation you get clarity about the tasks and the motivation for the team.

Public participation

Participation processes facilitate transparency, acceptance and involvement in change processes. This often involves complex issues that have to be discussed with many people.

  • wants to redevelop a river, a road or a town centre?
  • wants to promote participation and consent for a building project?
  • wants to declare and implement conditions concerning a nature conservation area?

In a team or individually, I accompany and support you from the invitation for the first meeting till the final presentation. With my experience and flexibility, I guide the participants through the mutual process. I ensure that different opinions and ideas are valued and I lead them to common results. Please contact me with your request or make an appointment for a personal meeting.

Feedback

“As the facilitator of our workshop “Shared values”, Saskia always had a good sense for the group and accompanied us in an appreciative and goal-oriented way. Working with her was very pleasant and constructive. We can imagine working with her in the future as well.”

Benedikt P., Kath. Verbund Internationale Freiwilligendienste – Bundesstelle

“In the conflict resolution we were able to exchange ideas and find the “common ground” again. The trigger points of individuals were always acknowledged in the sense of the issue level, but did not determine the process. Saskia introduced us to systemic consensus-building, the secret of successful teamwork, and since then we have been trying it out.“

Dorli G., Parents for Future

“Saskia is a talented moderator who prepares each meeting with great care, has extensive methodological skills and is able to structure even difficult discussions. I can recommend her as a moderator without hesitation.”

Eric H., BürgerBegehren Klimaschutz e.V.

Saskia Machel

Hello, I am a sailor, workshop facilitator and mediator!

I am from Berlin and love to go sailing or windsurfing on the lakes. At the water I calm down and find my strength and creativity.

I support groups in growing together as a team, reflecting on team dynamics, changing organisational structures and resolving conflicts. Together with the group, I create a safe space where everything can be said and new things can be tried out. The new things learned can be taken directly back to your own organisation and applied, because we are already working out the next concrete steps together.
You will receive guidance tailored to your organisation or group for one, several or regular appointments. It is particularly important to me that all participants are heard and experience self-efficacy. I am empathetic, appreciative, clear and love to inspire people!

I studied geography and urban ecology. I have worked as a moderator and minute-taker on participatory processes in urban planning, especially on round tables. I have worked as a coordinator and campaigner in various non-profit organisations. My further training includes mediation according to the standards of the Federal Association of Mediation, management courses and seminars in systemic thinking and acting. I currently work part-time as a process facilitator in a collective. As a freelancer I work with organisations in the social, civil society and private sector. In my free time I like to be on the water, in the mountains or go jogging in the city.

What drives and moves me is the desire to support honest exchange and understanding and to focus more on what we have in common than what divides us.

Feel free to send me a message or give me a call if you have questions, are thinking about group formats or have a concrete request!
